(Les Unc's) Lyz Jaakola

Lyz "Libby" Jaakola is an Anishinaabe Ikwe from the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe, to be completely politically correct. (Her father is a soumalainen boika, if you're wondering abou the surname.) Currently teaching music at the FDL Tribal & Community College, she spends her "free time" chasing after a boisterous baby boy and singing with Twin Ports groups such as the Arrowhead Chorale and the jazz duo Libby & Barry. Lyz has recently produced a CD entitled Ways of the Wheel, which combines traditional and contemporary tribal elements, issues, and humor in a unique blend one can only find in the north woods. (Talk to Lyz if you're interested in purchasing one...) Shameless plugs aside, Lyz truly hopes you enjoy the lighthearted intent behind her character in the show and, as is the custom in Ojibwe culture, she apologizes ahead of time for anything Poca Hannukas does which may offend your sensibilities.
