Don't despair ... Phantom of the NorShor will be
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
in 2006! Maybe this fall! Or whenever the NorShor opens again! You know what you guys should do? Drop us an email and we'll put you on the mailing list
.

Either way, Phantom of the Norshor will be a smoke-free event.

ABOUT PHANTOM OF THE NORSHOR:
Colder by the Lake's comic opera premiered in April 2005, a satirical take on the popular story of The Phantom of the Opera. The production's setting, main character, and central focus are none other than the historic NorShor Theater in downtown Duluth. Using both new and strangely familiar music, a hilarious and poignant plot, and the talents of theatre and music professionals from all over the Twin Ports area, Colder by the Lake's Phantom of the NorShor is guaranteed to delight audience members of all ages. Phantom of the NorShor will be a smoke-free event.

Phantom of the Norshor also features the world's first ever (that we know of) AUDIENCE-PARTICIPATION LIBRETTO. Back to top.

THE LYRICS TO "JEAN AND DONNA":
Jean and Donna, nude ladies on the wall
Oh can't you see, your devotees all adore you
Though you are naked and have feet of clay
It's clear that we must restore you
Jean and Donna, your skin is falling off
Let people cough and even scoff from the dust here
Call it indecent, oh call it a sin--

Jean and Donna, nude ladies on the wall
It's very rude to be so nude and immoral
We have our values, they're better than yours
Yes they are, now please don't quarrel
Jean and Donna, we cannot speak your names
We are ashamed and place the blame on your mothers
Cover yourselves up, and cover "down there"
Nice ladies should not be bare

I can see their naughties
And their privates clearly, that is wrong
We'll make them put some clothing on
Jean there in plaster, an obscene disaster
Donna's a disgrace, we'll cover up her face
They're showing too much skin, the terrorists will win
The world will surely halt, it must be someone's fault
It's just the sort of thing that children learn in school
And from the liberal media!

Jean and Donna, we'll make you good as new
We'll get a crew and wash your mouths out with soap too
No longer naked, thank God you are clean
Sing Donna and Jean!
